1. Fitting the Bracket

Loosen your chin rest with the tool provided, and check that the cork is in good condition. If it is not, we recommend that you get it replaced.  If the cork is sound, slide the StoweMaster bracket between the back of the violin and the underside plate of the chin rest. Make sure it is central to the plate. Re-tighten the chin rest, making sure that it is clamped securely to prevent slipping in use. Periodical inspection is recommended to ensure the bracket is secure.

  2. The Pad

The pad offers a choice of 3 positions for use and one for storage. We recommend that users spend some time trying each position to determine which best meets their needs in terms of comfort and support.

The position shown indicates the position of the arm for storage.  To change the position for use, the arm can be pulled from the pad, turned and pushed back into one of the other slots. Note, the arm doesn’t need to be pulled fully from the pad to change the positions.

In addition, through careful choice of materials your StoweMaster rest offers a degree of flexibility in the pad so that its shape can be adjusted (within reason) to suit the user. We recommend that you seek the advice of your local violin dealer for this kind of adjustment.

  3. Attaching the rest to the violin

The arm of the shoulder rest connects to the bracket with a simple push fit system. Push the spigot into the hole in the bracket. As with the pad there are a number of locating slots, which offer adjustment to the position of the rest beneath the instrument. Again we recommend experimenting with positions to determine which best meet the needs of the player.

Figures 3 & 4 show the StoweMaster being used with both a side fitting and a centrally fitting chin rest and also shows the pin and the four locating slots on the bracket.
